The Nightmare

The Nightmare is a mechanically heavy boss fight with multiple phases, each introducing new attacks and special abilities.

Base Attacks

The Nightmare has three base attack styles that are used throughout the fight:

  • Melee Attack
  • Ranged Attack
  • Magic Attack

Phase 1

Flower Room Mechanic:

  • Stand inside the green section to avoid damage

After defeating the Nightmare in Phase 1, four pillars become attackable. Defeat all pillars to proceed.

Sleepwalkers (Phase Transition):

  • After pillars are defeated, Nightmare spawns sleepwalkers
  • These ghouls walk toward the middle
  • Any ghoul not killed deals small damage to players
  • Use chinchompas to kill them easily (they die in one hit)

Phase 2

In addition to base attacks, Phase 2 introduces:

Parasite:

  • Nightmare infests a targeted player with a parasite
  • Drink a Sanfew serum to protect yourself
  • Failing to cleanse deals ~70 damage
  • A warning message appears when targeted

Shadow Attack:

  • Nightmare opens portals throughout the arena
  • Move away from tiles with open portals to avoid damage

Phase 3

Phase 3 adds two new mechanics while keeping the Shadow Attack from Phase 2:

Rush:

  • Nightmare jumps into a shadow portal on one side
  • Dashes across the arena dealing high damage to anyone caught

Mushrooms:

  • Nightmare spawns mushrooms in the arena
  • Walking into mushrooms slows your movement and attack speed for 15 seconds
  • The timer refreshes (doesn't stack) if you walk into another mushroom

Strategy

  1. Learn to recognize each attack animation
  2. Always stand in the green during the flower room mechanic
  3. Keep Sanfew serums ready for the parasite in Phase 2
  4. Stay mobile to avoid shadow portals and the rush attack
  5. Avoid mushrooms to maintain your attack speed
